LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - NBC Entertainment President Jeff Zucker announced new and returning mid-season series after assessing a successful November sweeps last Tuesday.

The drama "Mister Sterling," will premiere on Jan. 10 and air Fridays at 8 p.m. ET. The new comedy starring Scott Foley ("Felicity"), "A.U.S.A." is slated for February, and the drama "Kingpin" will get a March launch. Also, the comedy "Watching Ellie" will return to the NBC schedule.

"Mister Sterling" is a political drama from Emmy Award-winning writer/producer Lawrence O’Donnell ("The West Wing") that follows the life of a well-intentioned young Sen. William Sterling Jr. (Josh Brolin, "Hollow Man," "The Mod Squad") as he struggles to make his mark on Capitol Hill.

The idealism continues in "A.U.S.A." a comedy about young Assistant United States Attorneys who try to make a difference in the cases they prosecute. Foley stars as one of the lawyers in the series, produced by Richard Appel ("The Simpsons", "King of the Hill").

Two-time Emmy winner David Mills ("The Corner," "ER," "NYPD Blue") has created "Kingpin" for the network. The drama depicts the workings of a powerful Mexican drug-trafficking family. Yancey Arias ("The Time Machine" ) stars with Sheryl Lee ("L.A. Doctors," "Twin Peaks").

"Watching Ellie" returns with Julia Louis-Dreyfus ("Seinfeld") as a Los Angeles club singer struggling to make it in the city. Louis-Dreyfus' husband Brad Hall ("Brooklyn Bridge") is the creator and executive producer.

Zucker said the shows' exact schedules are yet to be determined.
